- I've had this little problem with my hard drive for a few months now. The
- stupid thing always has problems with spinning for the first few minutes
- of operation. When I first boot the computer, the drive usually spins up
- fine. However, after everything is loaded, I can hear the whine slow
- down and speed up. If I try to load a program then, a fast cache (prog
- from Aminet) comes up saying it had trouble reading in data. At the
- same time, the hard drive stops spinning completely. When I choose
- either retry or cancel, the drive trys to spin back up, but it just
- can't seem to reach speed. Sometimes I just let the computer sit for
- a while, and the drive will finally correct itself. Sometimes I have
- to perform multiple reboots, and sometimes I have to turn off the computer
- and then flip it back on. Can someone tell me what's happening here?
- Is my drive about to die? It's only about a year and a half old.

- My setup:
- Amiga 2000 with A3001 68030 accelerator
- GVP A4008 SCSI card (drive is mounted to it)
- 2.1 OS
- 245 meg Maxtor SCSI drive (3.5")
- 300 Watt Bigfoot power supply
